Terms & Conditions
Confidentiality: all sessions are confidential, where your identity and personal details are carefully protected. The only instances I may exercise the confidentiality policy is if I feel you may be a risk of harm to yourself or to someone else; and if someone may be a risk of harm to you.
The assessment/first session: this is where we meet, with the aim of establishing your needs and identifying the best plan moving forwards. This is where we reflect whether you are happy to work with me, if this process fits your goals; establishing the frequency of sessions and length of therapy, including potential referrals to other professionals/organisations/services.
The treatment sessions: treatment sessions are agreed at specific time and day slots, on an ongoing basis and are automatically reserved unless mutually agreed.
Payment: payment is taken in advance and due on the first session of the month by cash or PayPal or bank transfer.
Cancellation policy and rescheduling: if you cannot attend a confirmed session (that has been booked inadvance), you can request rescheduling the session with at least 48 hours notice. If a session is not attended or cancelled on 24 hours notice, it will be charged.
Length of therapy:
Short-term: the focus of therapy is very specific; sometimes, you might need a reflective space in light of making significant decision in your life. Alternatively, you may want to complete a small piece of or some top up work.
Long-term: this involves a comprehensive analysis of your life, who you are and what your experiences meant and mean to you. This can vary, but will approximately take at least 20 sessions.
A limitation is that a sense of dependency may be felt, but therapy is a process and orgnaically comes to a close - this will be liaised with transparency and guided by yourself.
Ending: it is my ethical and moral duty to preserve continuity of care, so I will accompany you throughout this process and to the end, once we have agreed a treatment plan. Although therapy typically ends naturally, where we end at an agreed stage, you are free to bring therapy to a close at any stage by providing at least 2 weeks notice - allowing the process of closure.
FAQs
Is the therapy confidential? All sessions are confidential, although the only instance I would exercise this is if/when you may be/are a harm to yourself or someone else; where I would liaise with the relevant personnel to ensure your safety.
What type of therapy do you offer? I am specialised in cognitive-behavioural therapy, although I adopt an integrative approach, allowing flexibility as it is person-centred and incorporates philosophies/styles from different types of psychotherapy.
Where do the sessions take place? The appointments currently take place remotely via MS Teams, with evidence suggesting that it is just as effective as face-to-face/in-person.
How many sessions do I need? This will depend on several factors, such as, your history of therapy, the nature/extent of your difficulties, your current dynamics, motivation for therapy (to name a few, as this is not exhaustive). It can range from 6-24 sessions.
What if I can’t make an appointment? The sessions are paid for in advance, but you are allowed to cancel appointments 48 hours before the appointment. Any cancellations after this or unexpected non-attendance will be charged/count towards the cost, as I will not have been able to replace that slot in time.
Do you accept referrals from private health insurance? Not at this moment in time. I am only accepting self-funded clients.
